Neha Shewani


A person who took to Bikram Yoga as a last ditch effort to cure her acidic peptic ailment, Neha Shewani is a testimony to how the decision changed her life in a positive way. Since starting in December 2010, Neha realised within a week the change that came over her and embraced Bikram Yoga as a permanent part of her life. Her quest to learn more and the constant support for her teachers, she soon found herself attending the teacher training session of spring 2012. After completing the course, she returned to India to teach at the Bikram Yoga centres in Pune and Hyderabad until October 2013. Slowly her never ending desire to travel, meet new people and share her knowledge took her to various places, including Thailand and Indonesia recently.

Jessica began practicing Bikram yoga 5 years ago, her original aims were to establish a balance with her Dancing career and also increase flexibility. Within her first 5 classes she was completely in love with the practice, the benefits both mentally and physically were endless!!!! As she continued her practice with various teachers and built strength, she watched with amazement at how much this yoga was helping people in so many different ways. She decided to go to L.A and complete her teacher training and graduated in 2013. Jessica feels so happy to be giving something back to Bikram by sharing this incredible series. She feels great joy when leading people through the postures and reminding them that “it’s never too late, it’s never too bad and you’re never too old or to sick to start from scratch again” (Bishnu Ghosh). She has a great passion for helping people create balance so they can live a healthier and more peaceful life.

Ningthoujam Robindro Singh or more fondly called as Robin, is a man of simplicity and clarity. Yoga defines his life and over the years, he has put in a lot of hard work to master different styles of the practice. Even today, he calls himself a learner and continues his pursuit to uncover new elements of the routines.

Yoga has been part of his life from a very young age. It was in the year 1996 that he got introduced to the world of yoga. Destiny led him to join a yoga class in Manipur and from then on, he has continued practising along with his studies. His fierce desire to know more about fitness and yoga, saw him acquire a Degree in Physical Education, Health Education and Sports (specialized in Yoga) from the Manipur University and later went on to complete his Master degree in Physical Education (M.P.Ed) from Nagpur University (Maharashtra, India) in 2001-02.

During the educational years, Robin participated in numerous yoga competitions and won many prizes. Later, he worked as a Yoga teacher’s trainer in Lakshmibai National College of Physical Education, Trivandrum under Sports Authority of India (S.A.I.). His commitment to teaching yoga became more focused with his migration to Dubai in 2003. In Dubai, he got to share his knowledge with students of different nationalities and which enabled him to mould himself better as a teacher crossing the barriers of regional language. He also conducted workshops and made his presence felt in International Yoga Conferences. Currently, he is teaching different styles of Yoga namely Hatha Yoga, Power Yoga, Ashtanga Yoga, Therapeutic Yoga, Pre-natal and Post-natal Yoga).

My yoga journey has been one of personal growth and to find peace outside of my comfort zone.

Growing up in Korea, I wasn’t much of an athlete, to be honest. I then found yoga and took up Hatha yoga for about 5 years. In December 2009, I moved to New York and accidently stumbled into a Bikram Yoga studio. I had no idea what Bikram Yoga was; I didn’t even bring a bottle of water! I don’t know how I survived that first class, but I was definitely hooked. I did a 10-days intro, and then went straight into two 30-days challenges. I would practice 5-6 days a week, until the studio owner encouraged me to participate in the 2012 USA Yoga NY Regional Championship. I went for it and it was a truly inspiring experience, learning from great Yogis and Yoginis. Bikram Yoga had given me back my sense of strength and peace in the overwhelming rat race of a Big Apple. So it didn’t take me long to figure out that I wanted to share my experience with others too. I left my job as a paralegal, and embarked on this journey to become a Yoga Teacher in the Fall of 2012. After graduation, I got a chance to travel the world as a full time yoga instructor, teaching and learning from wonderful beings in the US, Mexico, Brazil, Kenya, the UK, Scotland, Ireland, Switzerland, Norway, Denmark, Sweden, Austria, Thailand, Korea, Indonesia, and the UAE.

After practicing Bikram Yoga for over 6.5 years on a daily basis, I wanted to get out of my comfort zone, and deepen my practice. So I decided to attend Jared McCann’s Vinyasa training in Brooklyn, NY, which opened my eyes to practice different yogic methods; not only asana but also pranayama, meditation, kriay, and more. Now I love to teach and practice Vinyasa on top of Bikram yoga.

Yoga practice truly benefits you, not only physically but also mentally and emotionally. I feel stronger and stronger through practice – physically and yet with a sense of calm inner peace. Yoga practice helps me find my true self, change my perspective and cope with challenging circumstances. It does change your body, mind and life.
